The story begins three years later as a corpse, which has succumbed to a lethal and highly contagious toxin, is dumped in a very public location. A demand is then made - if a notorious drug kingpin is not freed from jail, this deadly virus will be widely released. Jack, who now runs a special field operations division for the Counter Terrorist Unit, sets off on the trail of this viral threat, which is nothing short of a ticking time bomb. Character: Jack Bauer Summary: Fresh off a six month undercover assignment that saw him put drug runner Ramon Salazar behind bars, Jack must now battle his own demons that have been born out of the assignment. He has become estranged from his girlfriend Kate Warner and has developed a habit he must break if he is to return to being the man he once was. However, Jack will be given little time to heal. Salazar's brother Hector, has hatched a plot to release a deadly virus on Los Angeles if Ramon is not freed. Character: Kim Bauer Summary: Now employed at CTU, Kim has fallen in love with her father's new partner Chase Edmunds. Up until now she has kept the relationship secret from her father but now feels obliged to tell him. Character: Chase Edmunds Summary: Since arriving at the LA division of CTU, Chase's life has changed dramatically. He met a man he admires and looks up to in the form of his boss Jack Bauer, and has met the love of his life, Jack's daughter Kim. Despite his knowledge that his relationship with Kim would likely not be approved of by Jack, he continues to see her anyway. But Kim intends to inform her father, despite Chase's warnings. Chase’s relationship with Kim gets further complicated in the day when Chloe, a Field Ops analyst, reveals that Chase has a baby. Actor: Dennis Haysbert
Character: David Palmer Summary: Since the attempt on his life three years ago, David's trust towards others has diminished greatly and he has become much more inner drawn. David replaced his former Chief Of Staff Mike Novick with his own brother Wayne, to have a man he can trust at his side. Today, David must go into a debate with another Presidential Candidate Senator Keeler, to prove to the people he should remain in power. However, Keeler’s plan of attack gets messy when he decides to attack David’s new love interest/doctor, Anne Packard. The debate won't be the only thing on David's agenda though, as it seems terrorists are plotting to release a deadly virus in Los Angeles and it is once again up to Jack Bauer to stop it. Character: Wayne Palmer Summary: Wayne has taken it upon himself to help put his brother David back on track. The attempt on David's life came as a wake up call to both him and David. Character: Tony Almeida Summary: Over the past three years, Tony's relationship with his fellow CTU agent Michelle Dessler has grown and they are now married. This situation has left Tony in a hard position as the CIA has offered him a job at Langley, which would take him away from Michelle. But Tony will have to delay his decision for now as terrorists are threatening Los Angeles and it's up to him and his staff to stop them. Actor: Reiko Aylesworth
Character: Michelle Dessler Summary: Now married to fellow agent Tony Almeida, Michelle will be deeply conflicted when she learns Tony is considering taking a job offered to him at CIA headquarters in Langley. However, when CTU gets Intel on a possible bio-attack against the city, she puts her emotions aside to help CTU neutralize a new threat against Los Angeles. Actor: Joaquim De Almeida
Character: Ramon Salazar Summary: Fooled and captured by undercover CTU agent Jack Bauer, Ramon is now behind bars. However, he may not be there long. His brother Hector has manufactured a plot to release a deadly virus if Ramon is not released from prison and Ramon takes joy in the fact that he may soon be able to get his revenge. Character: Michael Amador Summary: Amador represents Ukranian scientists in the sale of the virus to Ramon and Jack; however, when the Salazars and Jack turn up to collect the virus a third party turns up and suddenly it becomes an auction. Amador has his own plans and eventually deceives everyone. Actor: Sarah Clarke
Character: Nina Myers Summary: When Nina turns up to meet Amador she suddenly finds herself in a bidding war with Jack to get the virus. When she wins, Jack captures her and uses her to get the virus. However Nina prepared herself in case of event and has a backup plan which could bring down CTU. Actor: Lothaire Bluteau
Character: Marcus Alvers Summary: Amador meets with Alvers in LA. Alvers adds an accelerant to the virus and then sells it off to a man from Jack’s past. Alvers final task is to unleash the virus in a hotel but complications arise which lead to his death. Actor: Paul Blackthorne
Character: Stephen Saunders Summary: Stephen was left behind in a secret operation to kill Victor Drazen and now he wants revenge on the US and Jack. Saunders bought the virus from Amador and Alvers and used them to release it in the Chandler Plaza Hotel 'to send a message'. When Saunders gets a hold of the president, he starts making demands to take apart the American Military Machine. Actor: Penny Johnson Jerald
Character: Sherry Palmer Summary: Sherry is back but this time at the request of her ex-husband President David Palmer. When David’s financial backer, Alan Milliken, tries to blackmail him into firing his brother, he has no other choice than to get dirty.
